The gym is run by the Rehabilitation Team which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehab assistants.

Rehabilitation is available for people staying at the hospice, and people who live at home and come in to use the facilities and access support.

The gym hosts group programmes as well as one-to-one sessions with the aim of helping people to maximise their independence and achieve their personal goals. Our team of speech and language therapists and dieticians are also on hand to support people in this aim.

At the first meeting a member of the team will discuss what’s important to the person receiving support, before agreeing a plan to help that’s tailored to them and their goals.

For example, it may be that someone wants to build their strength so that they are able to continue running daily errands, whilst someone else may want to manage symptoms such as breathlessness or fatigue.

As well as sessions in the gym we also offer online video support enabling people to join in from the comfort of their own home.

Together, we will do all we can to help people to live actively and well.
