1. St Christopher's Centre for Awareness and Response into End of Life

AUDIO

Education lies at the heart of everything we do at St Christopher’s as we believe people deserve excellent end of life care wherever they are, and whatever their circumstances.

Our Education Centre opened in 1973 and since then we’ve provided education to thousands of people, holding courses and conferences and welcoming healthcare professionals at all stages of their career, from all over the world.

It is crucial we continue to offer excellent educational opportunities and so, following the success of a capital campaign which raised £6.5million, we are very excited to have recently opened the doors to St Christopher’s Centre for Awareness and Response to End of Life, known as St Christopher's CARE, for short.

St Christopher’s CARE is open to all, from members of the community to carers, patients and students. It is dedicated to the pioneering spirit of Dame Cicely, and is a place to learn, grow and share.

You can come here to find answers and we'll continue to ask questions, for there is much more life-changing knowledge to learn.

By 2037, nine million people will be caring for a family member, friend or neighbour at home in the UK (Carers UK Policy Briefing 2014).

Therefore, community action is key to St Christopher's and our plans for St Christopher’s CARE: to provide learning and guidance for the community, encouraging and supporting them to cope with the demanding responsibilities of caring for their mum, dad or sister at the end of their lives.

St Christopher’s CARE is equipped with state of the art technology that allows us to offer a wealth of opportunities and high quality education for healthcare professionals in the UK, and also to curate courses and develop a host of online resources, as well as share knowledge through video conferencing across the globe.

This contributes to greater understanding of end of life care globally.

You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life

Dame Cicely Saunders
